This is the Libby home page and the place to see what's new with Libby.

All software at this site was written in Liberty BASIC and is free to use.

Please read the license, at the bottom of this page, before downloading Libby.



What is Libby?
The Libby Project is best described in 2 parts, the GUI and the Modules.
  1. The Graphical User Interface.
    The GUI is a button bar application launcher with access to several Windows© included applications.

    The GUI features:
    • 10 user assignable buttons allows quick access to the programs you use most.

    • User defined Dropdown List that contains as many applications as you wish.

    • Tree
      Libby's tree is used to access Libby Modules and Windows© applications that are installed on your machine.

    • More...


  2. Modules
    Modules are Libby's strongest feature.
    They are actually different software packages that Libby uses.
    Many members of the Liberty BASIC community have taken the time to write modules and generously donate their work.


    Some Libby Modules will help with your computer tasks and others will keep you entertained.

What is Liberty BASIC
Libby modules are programmed in Liberty BASIC, arguably the easiest Windows© programming environment available today.

With ease of use you would expect a sacrifice in power.
This is not the case with Liberty BASIC.

LB has access to literally hundreds of Windows, and third party, DLLs and it is possible to write applications to do most any task.
Liberty BASIC is suitable for beginners and advanced programmers alike.

One of Liberty BASIC's strongest features is the people who use it.

The Official Liberty BASIC Support Group has well over 2000 members
and
The Liberty BASIC Forum has over 1800 members.
Between these two main groups, daily questions are answered almost as soon as they are asked.

There are also specialized groups that focus on specific areas of programming.

Liberty BASIC Youth Programming Forum
is a forum focused on the younger member of our community and is maintained by it's own members.

If that's not enough,
the community publishes a monthly newsletter.
This is not a lightweight one pager it's a full fledged tech journal filled with programming articles, demos, and tips.

There are articles for programmers of all skill levels.

Wallace Wang, author of many computer books (including several for Visual Basic) recently reworked his popular book "Beginning Programming for Dummies" to teach Liberty BASIC instead of QBASIC!
